Sesitek launches Ruggtek: computers for industrial use and extreme environments
Ruggtek is the Italian brand specialising in the design and distribution of ultra-rugged (rugged) mobile devices, intended mainly for professional, industrial use and in extreme environments. The brand is owned by Sesitek, a company headquartered in Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, which boasts long experience in the industrial computer and automation software sector.
“We are a company founded by a group of industrial PC veterans with over 30 years of experience, with an Italian soul. The product range
Whether it is a touch screen computer or a rugged tablet PC, each product is designed to integrate seamlessly into industrial operating processes, ensuring reliability and performance. “In particular, our Ruggtek brand does not produce computers for the average home user, but focuses on devices designed to withstand drops, dust, water and extreme temperatures. These products are certified to military standards (such as MIL-STD-810) and have high IP ratings (IP65 or higher),” they remark from the company.
The Ruggtek range is mainly divided into four categories:
- Industrial tablets - available with screens up to 13″, readable in direct sunlight and touchscreens that can also be used with work gloves
- Handheld and rugged smartphones - compact devices with integrated tools such as barcode readers, RFID readers and long-life batteries that can be replaced independently by the operator
- Vehicular computers - terminals designed to be mounted on forklift trucks, construction machinery and public transport vehicles
- Panel PC - embedded industrial computers in kiosks and interactive totems, or fixed on board machines
Target Markets
The company targets specific markets where reliability and business continuity are crucial: logistics and warehousing for inventory management, picking and goods scanning; Industry 5.0 for production line monitoring and maintenance; field services such as civil engineering, geo-localisation, public safety and environment; transport for fleet management and vehicle monitoring.
Ruggtek offers flexibility and customisation, acting as a partner for companies that want “branded” or technically modified hardware, even with small to medium production volumes, making customisation accessible even to medium-sized companies or system integrators.
In addition, it guarantees a direct relationship and local support: it has a repair centre both in Italy and at partners located in Europe; in case of repairs, intervention times are short. “Of note is product continuity: Ruggtek tends to guarantee the availability of models for longer periods, an important detail for companies that do not want to recertify their devices and software every one or two years or need identical spare parts for an existing fleet. Finally, Ruggtek retains the flexibility to supply Windows, Android and Linux systems,” conclude the Sassuolo-based company.
